Installing from a ZIP File

If you have the Write Buddy ZIP file (e.g., write-buddy.zip), you can install it directly from the WordPress admin screen.

Installation Steps

1. Log in to the WordPress admin screen and, in the left-hand menu, click “Plugins” → “Add New Plugin”.
2. Click the “Upload Plugin” button at the top of the screen.
3. Click “Choose File” and select your ZIP file (write-buddy.zip).
4. Click “Install Now” and wait for the upload to complete.
5. When the installation complete screen appears, click “Activate Plugin” (for details on activation, see How to Activate/Deactivate).

Troubleshooting

• If you see an error such as “The uploaded file is not a valid zip file,” check whether the ZIP file is corrupted or whether you accidentally compressed an extra folder level (the correct structure is a single folder containing write-buddy.php directly inside the ZIP file).
• If you have reached your server’s upload size limit, check your hosting provider’s settings (such as upload_max_filesize).
• If a plugin with the same name is already installed, delete the existing plugin first before installing the new ZIP file.
