How to Activate the Plugin

1. In the left-hand menu of the WordPress admin screen, open “Plugins” → “Installed Plugins”.
2. Find “Write Buddy” in the list and click the “Activate” link displayed beneath it.
3. The first time you activate the plugin, the Freemius opt-in screen (which asks whether you agree to share usage data) may appear. Review the content and choose either “Opt-in” or “Skip” to proceed.
4. If you have not yet registered a license (or trial), a prompt such as “Please enter your license key” will continue to appear at the top of the screen after activation. Follow this prompt to complete registration (see How to Register Your License Key).

Note: Because Write Buddy has no free plan, the AI features on the post editing screen (featured image generation, proofreading, quick article generator, and AI chat) will not appear until a valid license (or free trial) has been registered. Activating the plugin itself and registering the license are separate steps.

How to Deactivate the Plugin

1. In the left-hand menu of the WordPress admin screen, open “Plugins” → “Installed Plugins”.
2. Find “Write Buddy” in the list and click the “Deactivate” link displayed beneath it.

Deactivating the plugin does not delete its settings (such as the API key and model settings) or any proofreading results already saved to posts. If you activate the plugin again, your settings will be preserved. If you want to completely remove the settings and data, deactivate the plugin and then click “Delete” from the plugin list (a Freemius survey may appear when you do this).
